I went to reconnect my battery to my trailer today and I got a mini fireworks show. I confirmed all the breakers were off . I brought the battery in to Part Source to be tested. They said it was a good battery with a low charge. Is it safe to assume there's a short somewhere?

If you connected the battery on the wrong terminals, which may have caused the fireworks display, you may have blown the reverse polarity fuse. Its a safety feature to prevent your 12volt fixtures from frying. I've never checked or needed to change mine but I thinks its near the battery or the converter.

I'm pretty sure I had it right. Black always negative. I'll have a look in the fuse box

There are a few loads that will be connected as soon as the battery is re-connected. Mine sparks some - not excessive. I have two batteries in out rig.

black is power (pos) white is negative (neutral) its wired like a house for 120v ac service not like a car. you need to check your fuses as they are probably blown now

What Jason said. Black is positive (+), white is negative (-).

You guys were right. Had a brain fart. (I blame night shift!) when I put the cables on the right way the battery sparked but stopped soon after. I owe everyone a beer!

Before I disconnected mine for the first time, I labelled the wires with a piece of tape. Also the terminal labels (+ and -) are hard to see on my battery and since its dark in the storage compartment, I labelled it too with tape.
