Is there any benefit to leaving open the grey/black tank sewer line and covering the opening with a screen to let fresh air in the tanks when the camper is sitting in the driveway.

No and No.

There is no reason to dry out the tank, in fact I always leave a "starter" solution of 5 gallons and a tank treatment. This keeps the tank stable and fights back any possbile sewer gas issues.

Another reason is that no matter how clean you "Think" you have the black tank, opening the valve without a sewer hose connection to the sewer will "always" surprise you.

Drying out the tank is a sure way to turn the junk that is left in your grey or especially black tank into cement. You shouldn't do that. Better to follow mwebber78's procedure.
