Should I order my new Dodge truck with the factory installed brake controller or go with an aftermarket controller? Is there much difference between the various units?

Thanks,

I have been told that factory brake controllers work in conjuction with the factory ABS. Just that alone makes the case for the factory brake controller. If you can see the 2009 Trailer Life Truck Guide there is a big story about brake controllers and the difference between types. Google the title and I am sure you will come up with it. You might even find the 2010 edition. Another thing is that with the factory controller you don't have any additional things poking out of the dashboard. I have the factory controller on my Silverado HD.

Go with the factory unit. I have the Ford BC in my SuperDuty and I really like. In fact I like it better than the Prodigy P2 I installed in my Expedition.

You definitely want to order the factory brake controller. Mine works great.
