broken spring hangers

We own cf31 cruiser and at pickwick this weekend notice couldn't get wheel lock in side normally goes but would fit other side. check out underneath and found 2 spring hangers broke on rear axle. Anyone ever had this problem. I got new ones install before pulling home.
Also should I take to alignment shop?

Do you recall hitting anything? Seem like a tough thing to break. If the spring alignment isnt off and it hasn't moved on the axle, shouldn't need an alignment.
Cant hurt though. Give them a chance to inspect all the suspension parts.

I would think if your tires weren't wearing abnormally before the hangers broke, and they got the new ones installed correctly, you shouldn't have to check the alignment.
I would sure keep an eye on the tires for awhile to see how they are wearing. If you notice anything different in the wear, then take it in for an alignment.

The nylon bushings have been known to be a problem. I replaced mine with the "wet bolt kit". Now they can be greased.

Over the years they have come out with a different bushing.
Called, "never fail bushings".

Broken spring hanger

I had a similar experience on my 29' Cruiser. In my case I think the root cause was 'probably' that the centering pin on one of the leaf springs sheared off 'probably' due to loose u-bolts. That caused the axle to slip towards the rear which 'probably' torqued the equilizers which cracked them. I ended up replacing leaf springs, equilizers, installed wet bolts and had both axles aligned. No problems since (several years) but I do check those u-bolts for tightness regularly now! I was on the freeway in heavy traffic on a bridge when everything came loose and was very lucky that I got to the side of the road safely and avoided a bad accident.
