Burned out led’s and a broken vent fan

My wife and I just bought a 2016 Sunset Trail 27BH. We love it. The previous owner took really good care of it. We are new to camping and are slowly learning.

As I’m going thru it, I’m finding a few small things that don’t work or need to be replaced. I’m hoping for insight from the group.

1) max air II fan in the bedroom doesn’t work. Like it isn’t getting power. It worked when the previous owner walked me thru everything. It has a small control panel on the wall in the bedroom. Is there a specific order of pushing buttons to turn it on? I don’t think it’s a fuse because everything else in the bedroom works.

2) some of the led’s on the strip on the awning are burned out. How do I replace the strip? Is there a good video on YouTube or something?

3) most of the blue led’s on the front cap are burned out. How do I replace the strip? Or should the dealer do it because of the location?

4) what’s the best product to use for getting road tar off the sides and front cap?

Again, I’m new to this so any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

If your max air is like mine, there is a thermostat in what you are referring to as the control panel. That has to be turned down below what your temperature in the camper is in order for the hood to lift and the fan to turn on.

I don't have LED lights out there, but I believe the guys are saying when they start burning out, it's time to replace the whole strip. I don't think it's to hard of a job.

WD-40 on a rag will take road tar off. Then warm soapy water and a rinse followed by wax.

Thanks for the reply Lloyd. My control panel has an on/off button, an “on above 78 degrees” button, fan faster/slower, and a vent open/close button. I don’t see anything that appears to be a thermostat.

My fan controller is the exact one attached.

None of the buttons on the controller do anything. The fan doesn’t move or make any noises.

Have you tried changing the batteries in the controller?

No. I assumed it was hard wired into the wall.

Another trick for cleaning the front cap from bugs and road tar is a dryer sheet. Yep just take a couple dryer sheets, wet them and rub the grime away like magic. I’ve used dryer sheets for years and have never had any problem.

As for the awning LEDs...just let them burn out , waste of time and money replacing them as new ones are the same junk.
