What is the best insurance for a camper? We have used state farm and never had much of problem. Just curious if anyone has found something better out there for campers.

We have been with State Farm for30 years and they insure everything we own. As you said we have never had a problem with them. You will get numerous opinions and it all boils down to what you feel comfortable with and who has the best coverage for you.

There is no "best" insurance coverage for your RV. All kinds of options from direct writers like state farm, allstate, aaa, etc where the agents are company employees to 1-800 numbers like gieco or usaa to online options like progressive to your local independent agent who handles several companies and will search out the best solution for you. Also have specialty insurers like Foremost or Good Sam to help you out.

More important that you identify which coverage you want and make sure you understand the coverage you purchase. Pricing comparisons in a forum are ridiculous as rates in California vary widely from Maryland from Texas etc. Shoot, rates can vary considerably from one zip code to another and with insurance scoring your neighbor may have half the rate you do. Above all be comfortable with the level of service you choose and that the company is financially strong with an AM Best rating of at least A+ or better.

I had a customer get a cheap rate from a 1-800 company and when he was having problems with a claim I refused to help since I was no longer the agent. I also assisted a client with getting his trailer totalled instead of being repaired for his claim, which is what he wanted and was the only reasonable course of action with the amount of damage to his unit. Only you can decide how much an agent is worth to you and whether or not they're capable of helping if you need them.

Good luck!

Yep state farm too.... We even have the roadside service with them too. This is not the trucks roadside but the trailer by its self. Happy so far.

We all like to think we have the best deal on Ins. or the best Ins., and maybe some of us do, but Al--"papa2" has given the "best" answer to the original question.
