Cannot Extend Awning Arm
I have a Carefree manual awning that I cannot extend. When I open the arm latch and attempt to to slide up the upper arm channel , it doesn't move. I tried to hammer a block of wood against the channel, but it won't budge. Any advise?

Sounds like the pin isn't coming all the way out of the hole in the other arm when you lift the handle.

Check with your finger if the pin is out fully like Lloyd said. You might have to make a mess and spray some WD40 along the two parts that slide. But I won't be hard to clean up.

I tried pushing the pin but to no avail. I guess I'll try WD-40. Attached are more pictures for a better look. The top picture is the pin in question. The bottom picture is from the good channel for comparison.

Try removing the lift handle. You will need to drill out the pop rivets. https://www.amazon.com/DEF-830644-De...a-872104789138

I would try using a silicone spray and spray it into each of the holes that the pin would go into if it was moving...Might even have to do several times...To me both pins in the pictures look the same...

If you can tap the pins from the inside with a drift or similar size piece of metal, it may release the pin.

Have you tried what Russb posted?
Seems to me, if they won't move that's what you will have to try next.

Lloyd
I agree with you but at the same time when I look at the good pin and the bad pin, they both look the same to me...By that I mean they both look like they are retracted the same amount...I would look over the whole arm that is not moving to see if it is crimped, or bent at all...I think the arm is just bound up...

It might just be seized up inside the piece that the pin is in.
Or it could be like SleepyT stated.
