Carbon monoxide detector
I got my trailer back from the dealer from having a beer hot water heat put in. Now my carbon monoxide detector is flashing 3 red lights and beeping, I tried pushing in the reset button on it, any suggestions?

I’d unhook the battery and let it set for a hour and the see if it resets.

How old is your trailer? If it is 7 years old, it probably needs to be replaced. It will help if you put what gear you have in your signature.

It’s a 2008 lone star 36 ft 30 amp trailer so it might need to be replaced.

From the net:
'These devices are wired into the RVs 12 volt electrical system. The majority of these detectors have a useful life of about five years. After five years the detector must be replaced with a new unit.'

The other possibility is that your house battery got discharged. Make sure the battery is fully charged.
Of course, that old, the detector probably isn't working the way it should anyway, and should probably be replaced anyway.

The carbon monoxide detector in my trailer is the original. It is still flashing the same way it always has, so I'm assuming it's still working.
Does anybody know if there is a way they can be checked?
I replaced one in a truck camper we had. That was chirping at me pretty good.

Sorry, I was thinking of the LP detector.
Anyway both of them are the originals in our trailer.
Hope I didn't jinx myself with that one.

All manufactures of Carbon Monoxide detectors recommend a 5 to 7 year replacement whether the chirp or not. Just like the life span of smoke and fire detectors.
Quote:
Do Detectors Really Expire
Just like any device ran with an electrical circuit, carbon monoxide detectors expire when the sensitivity of the sensor’s components dull because of its exposure to the gas for a long time.
The estimated time frame is usually five to seven years, but newly-manufactured models can reach up to 10 years.
Moreover, all detectors manufactured before 2013 should probably reach expiration by now.

It still chirps when I push the button.
Those manufactures wouldn't like me.

You must have the antique model.
Does not matter if you take out batteries or not. Sensors accumulate dust and other gunk.

So now, you are not only saying my unit is old, but it's dirty also?

Are you sure you aren't referring to the smoke detector at the ceiling?
My carbon monoxide detector is integrated in with the LP detector. It said it expired after 7 years. Mine did within a month of 7 years.
I replaced mine with this... https://www.rvupgradestore.com/Dual-...-p/66-8742.htm

I have a smoke detector on the ceiling, A LP detector on the lower part of the floor next to the furnace, and, a carbon monoxide detector up stairs in the bedroom next to the bed. This one has either double or triple A batteries.

READ THE LABEL? Label has a LEGEND to tell you what the three flashing means? Suspicion is either EXPIRED/ NEEDS REPLACED, OR LOW BATTERY?

They come in different sizes to match the opening in the wall.
When mine went bad I measured and bought a model that would fit in the opening that was there. (Plus black or white)
