I am still working onstopping so much cold air from coming inthe 08Kingston 33SK.

Today I went out to work on the 5er and put the couch slide out and felt cold air coming in around the awning switch. I have not checked all the other switches, but in looking at the awning switch, I would like to spray foam around the switch but everything is so light made I am afraid that the foam will expand too much, can anyone shed any light on the best way to stop some of the air from coming in around the plates?

John

I believe you can buy non-expanding foam at home improvement stores.

Should I shut off the electric and spray around the switches and outlets?

The problem with expanding foam (and yes HD sells low expansion foam for windows) is that makes it more difficult to replace switches later on. That stuff sticks to EVERYTHING. They also make foam gaskets designed for that very purpose. Check the electrical dept at HD.

As Stan mentioned, I have foam gaskets in my home switches. Gets cold here at 11,000 feet especially with the occasional wind. Got to -6 night before last. Gaskets work well!

The foam gasketswe have in the house, I need to look again at the outlet and switch's in the 5er, I think theface plates'sare slip on only, may not be enough room for the face plate to self latch.

coastin, the house is a great place to be with -6 outside.

I found something interesting in the heat loss area, I removed the cold air vent for the first time to look at the furnace and found thatoneof the flexhose was not hooked up to theadapter and was laying on the floor.

The adapter wasloose and just hanging there, the furnace was just blowing hot air under the sinkto the pass through space.

After this was completed I noticed that the end plate that held the two adapters and flex pipes, on one end it was not put all the way on the furnace so I corrected that but,I feel a lot of hot air being blowing out on that side of the end plate.

My question is this normal? if itis not, that would also be anotherreason I am not getting enough air to the flex pipes.
