The drawer we would like to use for silverware is only 9.25" wide. Finding a storage tray that will fit that dimension is impossible! What have other people found that works?

Thanks,

If you have a table saw, I've made custom ones out of melamine shelving.

There are a couple options. You can use those plastic modular baskets found at the W-Mart store (or The Container Store) to create your own silverware compartments. Put that stuff that prevents stuff from sliding around and that will help. I use those baskets in my stick house, too.

I found a really cool antique one that fit our drawer in our unit perfectly, so that's what I did, BUT for the drawer I want to hold the kitchen utensils, I have the baskets I mentioned, above.

I bought a platic one that was too big and used a saw to cut the side large compartment off of it. Then it fit no problem.

We have a wire mesh one that fits. Too bad I can't remember when or where I got it.

Have you seen this at The Container Store? I don't know how to make the link work, so maybe just copy and paste it to your browser. It looks like it might work for you though.

We finally found what we were looking for at Amazon.com. It has 5 sections for knives, forks, spoons, etc. It fits exactly width wise and is somewhat shorter than the drawer. This creates a 6th area between the organizer and the end of the drawer. My wife is very pleased with it. If anyone is interested the link is:
