Diesel availability

We will be taking the Lake Superior circle tour later this summer. Starting at Sault Ste Marie, Ontario and traveling counter clockwise, we will be visiting MN, WI and MI. We've been told that diesel fuel is not as readily available in the States as it is here in Canada.Could someone please comment on this.

Diesel fuel availability no problem in the states. A bank willing to loan you the money to pay foryour diesel fuelmay be priceless.

Check Gasbuddy.com . There looks to be plenty of stations with diesel on the States side of Lake Superior.

You can get Diesel fuel in Sault Ste Marie, Wawa, White River, Marathon, Terrace Bay, Schrieber, Nipigon, and Thunder Bay. There is no Diesel fuel outlet between Sault Ste Marie and Wawa, which is about a 250 klicks (150 miles) so make sure that you have sufficient fuel for the trip or fuel up in Sault Ste Marie.




As for the state-side, Diesel is available in virtually every town along the highway from Thunder Bay to Duluth as well as along the south shore of Lake Superior.Edited by: Hamops

I second the pictures when they are available....The only area I have found with some scarce diesel is around the Savannah, Ill area. Had to drive 20-miles into Iowa to find some at a farm coop station. That was a year ago...things might have changed since then... But as others have said, best to have some searches done before you take the plunge...
