Hopefully someone will respond because I have had several issues trying to get into the new forum.

We changed seasonal spots for the 2009 season and now my electric hook up plug and the actual post are too far apart from each other by 15 feet. Is there an extension that I can use and is there any risk in doing this?

Doug:

You can buy 30 and 50 amp extension cords at most rv stores and in my opinion there isn't any risk. I have used a 30 amp extension on several occasions. If you want to make the connection of the two cords waterproof then wrap it with duct tape.Edited by: gball

Yes, you can and there is no risk. Go to an RV parts store or Walmart and get a 25 foot RV extension cord. If you intend to use it as a semi-permanent or permanent installation, I suggest that you tape the extension and cable plug connection to keep them dry and clean.

I got a 30 amp from WalMart for a little under 50. My in-laws have a seasonal and the hookups are on the 'wring' side of the site so they buried pvc pipe and run the hook-ups throught those.

Would also suggest that you unplug and clean the terminals atleast once a year or more.

I had a 30' - 30ampextention cord for our old Cruiser and when we bought the PP I purchased a 30' - 50amp extention cord for it. I use a small amount of di-electric grease on the terminals after giving them a good cleaning once a year.

How right you are Keith on the di-electric grease. This saves a lot of headaches over the years, especially on the 7-way plug and receptacle and all outside lamp sockets.

I agree with the previous posts, if you buy the right size extension cord, you'll be okay. We've had a seasonal camp site for a few years now, but before that I used to carry two30 amp extension cords. I got caught too far from the electrical post one time and had to use a 20 amp cord and a cheater plug. I couldn't run the air and the and the potential fire risk due to overheating had me heading out to buy a spare 30 amp cord.

Here's a link for a 30A cord at CampingWorld -> http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...stw-cords/4130

I agree with Keith, we carry a 50 amp amd a 30 amp extension cord not the most exciting and fun thing to buy and we don't ues them often but they a a must for sure, and a small amount of di-electric greae keeps them all in good working order...better to have them and never need them than to need them and not have one....

Or have to buy it for double the price from the campstore when you REALLY need it.
