Can we assume that you are talking about the emergency breakaway switch? If that switch triggered by accidentally pulling the cable attached to it (normally attached to your tow vehicle during towing), then the brake actuators were triggered, and they are probably damaged by overheating.
Also, that switch would not be defective, you just have to reset it, by re-inserting the rod.

So are you saying the brake actuators could me damaged I did not think about that but you could be correct.

I ran across a camper years ago who thought that pulling the breakaway pin was a "parking brake". He was complaining about having bad brakes. He had burnt out 3 out of 4 magnets. So i would check yours before you pull it very far.

What should they check where is the brake controller circuit for the 5th wheel?

They would have to check the magnets at the wheels. The signal/current from the trucks break controller energizes the electro magnets which contact the brake drum moving the brake shoes to slow you down. If the magnets are bad you have no brakes.

Update got a bad motor/gear for the rear jacks need recommdeded replacement or where to get manual jack handle, water heater works on gas but not electric got a thermo and old heater element under the sink in cabinet, bad thermocouple in stove, switch in shower fan, grey water #2 black water and battery indicators not working... good news water heater works on gas refer good and main A/C units works and furnace. Anyone know where to find the manual for the Dometic controller wall. It is not user friendly.
