We just purchased a 2014 Rushmore-Washington and decided to get the extended warranty. The truth about extended warranties is that most will never recover the cost they paid for it, and that is good news! If you recover the extended warranty costs within the 5 year time frame, more than likely your RV travels & experience have been less than great. Most of the times we have decided against purchasing an extended warranty on any product we buy, we always seem to have problems pop up "immediately" after the mfg's warranty expired. When we purchase the extended warranties we hardly ever need them. The main advantage as stated by most people is the nice warm feeling you get by having it. If you look at all the issues with manyof the RV dealers and manufacturers the horror stories are almost impossible to comprehend. "Murphy's Law" says that if you buy it you will never use it, and if you don't buy it, surely you will wish you had.

We just had a service man come to our home to fix a washer issue (which of course just ran out of warranty several weeks earlier) and he made an interesting comment about extended warranties: In the appliance and electronics industries the extended warranties have become worthless. He stated that the manufacturers typically pay so little for the extended warranty repairs, "he refuses to do extended warranty work any longer". He noted most of the service people he knew stated the same thing. I'm not sure if this will eventually carry over to other industries that offer extended warranties but I wouldn't bet against it.

Our decision to buy the extended warranty hopefully will prove out to be a waste of money in the respect that our unit performs flawlessly throughout the extended warranty period. Seems like an irrational thing to say, but I will be truly elated if we never need to use it. We went with "Xtra-Ride"which was sold by our CR dealer.
