I posted this on RV net also but I'm more interested in how it affects Crossroads products. I have a 2010 F-350 on order and am concerned about the bed height. The F-350 bed sits about 2 1/2 inches higher than an F-250. On my 2007 F-350 it cost me about $350 to install F-250 suspension blocks in place of the F-350. My Ford dealer today says I'm the only one that has ever done that. So to the point, does anybody have or know anybody that has an 08 or 09 F-350 (should be same as 2010)and have they had any bed height problems, especially with a Crossroads 5th wheel?

i can't help with your bed height issue, but i have heard of people doing what you did. its not that uncommon. check out this website www.ford-trucks.com tons of good info. 350 blocks are tapered (to help with the driveshaft angle w/ the added height)and they measure 3 7/8" the 250 blocks are 1 7/8" non tapered. you can get the blocks and u-bolts from a ford dealer and change them for alot less than $350. best of luck with your new truck. i'm jealous.

I own an 2009 F-350 4x4. When we picked up the 2009 Cruiser it was far from level. The RV dealer said it was due to both the 350 extra spring and being a 4x4. To level the 5th wheel they lowered the kingpin and raised the rear axle. This brought it within a 1/2 inch of being level when towing.

It all depends on your tow vehicle tire size, wheel size, etc. I have 18" rims with 285/65/18 and my trailer sit roughly 1 1/2 higher in the front than the rear which to my liking isn't perfect but without raising my springs to the next hole on the shackle(which I've read isn't practical without major mods including alignment) I will live with it. I've recently just towed from central Alberta and am currently on the south end of the Grand Canyon with over 3000 miles and the only problem with tires was on my truck today my front passenger tire seperated at 70 mph and disinigrated luckily caused no damage to my tv or 5ver but made me sweat at 106 degrees not to mention big rig traffic.

Anyway, the only difference between any 250 vs 350 is an extra spring in the rear which will add to height, but wait till you have your truck loaded before you make changes as it will squat once your pin weight is on.

I have an F-250 with firestone air bags which I air up to 65-70 psi when my trailer is on and the ride height is not that bad

ryeja,

i think your talking about the overload spring. its a seperate spring pack above the spring pack thats attached to your differental. its a option that comes on f250's and f350's(might be standard on f450's and f550's) the leaf springs are identical. what gives the 350 more spring rating is the size of the block. the larger block(f350) allows the leaf spring to flex more and the spring rating increases when the spring flexes. i have a f350 without the overload spring, but i do have air bags like you and i agree they work great. check out this ford truck forum, tons of good info. www.ford-trucks.com Edited by: spinella

I had 04 F350 DRW 4x4 crew cab and replaced with 08 identical truck. I tow 36' Silverado and did no adjustment to pin box and unit still runs level.
