First trip in Sunset Reserve and toilet breaks

Our very first trip in our new 5th, and the toilet pedal and spring thing broke apart. We cannot get those parts back together, so we are manually rotating the thingy to open the trap and are putting two cups of water down it each time. We spent 5 days in OR when this happened and now 5 days in Plymouth CA. The only time we can get the trailer in for work will be next week. DH will be calling to make an appt and hopefully they take us!

Unfortunately, we've had two floods when the rotating thingy was left in the wrong position and the water was hooked up to trailer, making the toilet overflow until we see it running out of the trailer. Won't be happening a third time, thats for sure.

Aaauughhh!

Remember too that they are made out of plastic. It only takes a gentle foot to operate.

Wow I'm sorry to hear this. No way to modify it until you get to a repair shop?

We went to the CR website and see that there are two dealers within 1.5 hours of us. Called the first one and they can't get us into the shop until the end of July. The second dealer in Stockton must have gone out of biz cus the phone number was no longer valid. CR: update your website please!

So since we have 3.5 solid weeks of camping left before returning the Grands to AR, we are purchasing a Dometic toilet from Amazon and will install it ourselves. We also will be recaulking the shower pan, since it leaks into the lower storage place. Also will be nailing back some trim in two of the slides which have come undone. Also the dinette (one side) has removed itself from the slide so that will have to be reattached.

Lets hope that this is the end of do it ourselves repair for a while.

The toilet itself should have the manufacturers warranty with it, correct? Go to any dealer that sells that brand of toilet, and they should honor the warranty. Even if you take it out yourself and return it for warranty service or replacement, you can go to any dealer who sells that toilet, correct? Is yours a Thetford or Dometic?

Call Crossroads to see if there is an authorized repair shop near you. They do not have to be a dealer, only approved by Crossroads.
