Hello. Question? Pros and cons of carrying some xtra diesel in truck bed. (plastic containers DOT approved) 5 to ten gallons for emergency. I cannot seem to justify the expense of an in bed tank at this time. I know safety will be the 1st concern, however, my capacity is only 26 gallons so I could be challenged depending where we are. I would appreciate input. Thanks. Happy Trails

If I am going into an unknown area, I will throw the 5-gallon diesel can in back inside of another tote for stability. You might also consider an upgrade from Titan tanks. They fit in the factory location, but almost double your capacity. Would definitely solve your issue...except when it comes time to fill up

Al, you will get a lot back on this one.
My capacity is also only 26 Gal like yours. I carry an extra 5 gal. in a plastic container. I can't justify the expense for the larger system either. Now, with that being said, I have traveled as much , maybe more then most in remote places and have never ran out of fuel. I did dump the 5 gal in once---and that was strictly so I didn't have to find a station before I got home.

Hi Al,
We traveled to Alaska a couple years ago and carried two 5gal containers of diesel and no problem with Canada. We did use one trying to get to Haines Jct but if we were not carrying itwe we would have probably fueled earlier. Turned out we were glad we had it. When truck says 8mi to empty it can be hard on the nerves. Carrying diesel is quite different than gasoine.
