Just bought a Honda eu3000is for my cruiser and was wondering about generator etiquette. The gen is pretty quiet to begin with but I am a bit anal about campground etiquette and not bothering others while they enjoy the campground. This is obviously if we do not hook up.

Is there anything I can do to supress the generator noise even more so as not to offend others. I was thinking of a box with insulation on the inside that sits over the gen. With proper holes for cooling and exhausting the exhaust of course.

How do you keep your generator. In the bed of TV or do you have a pull out from the storage.

We are new to the generator thing so any advise would be helpful......Thanks

i store my generator on a rack on the back of my camper. most of the guys i camp with just leave them in the back of there pick ups. when you check in to any camp ground they will let you know about there generator rules. usually something like, 8pm quiet time...8 am to 1 pm allowed...1pm to 5pm quiet time. your honda is quiet enough n o reason to make a box around it. been to campgrounds where people bring construction style generators...real nice, like camping next to a chain saw.

I building a box around the generator is discouraged by the generator manufactures. They are concerned about over heating.

We carry the gen in the truck box. also have a Honda. they are quiet, but always check for the rules and ask the neighbors.
We use a three sided box to direct sound away from others, when needed.

Three sided box sounds like a good idea, and BTW, thanx for the consideration.

I have been trying to hook a muffler up to my generator and I think it will quiet it down more I have a Powermate. With that in mind however when I start it I usually walk to my neighbor and ask them if they have a time they do not want it to run. I have found the direct approach works best even with folks who are finicky. I usually dont take it out of the truck.

Likewise on the rules and neighbors. I try to run only in the morning for coffee ( 8:30-9'ish).

Last year at a park someone walks up to me in the evening and asks "You got that Honda generator?" I quickly apologise for the noise (68 db?) and he says no he needs some 110 power and would I mind firing it up? I of course help a neighbor out.
