Gray and black tank indicator

I have recently purchased a ST270BH which we love but my question is has anyone had any issues with the gray and black tank level indicator on the main panel. I have camped twice now and neither one is working. They both show one red light which means it's empty. I have contacted my dealer and I have to take the TT back to them to get it resolved but was wondering if any of you have experienced this problem.

Tank indicators have long been an issue for many owners of rvs of all brands. They frequently don't want to read right. It should be as simple as swapping out a sensor to get it functioning properly for you.

I agree with Anaro. This is a common problem on RVs of all types. In your case, it sounds as if maybe the wires were never landed either to your indicator panel or to the sensors themselves. It sounds like a relatively simple fix. If I can give you one piece of advice regarding level sensors, it would be to always dump your black tank when it is full, even if you have to add water to do so. Then flush it thoroughly. Never, under any circumstance, give in to the temptation to leave the black tank valve open to allow the toilet to dump directly to the sewer. This will result in a pile of poop/toilet paper in your black tank that will be the devil to get rid of. (Okay, maybe that was two pieces of advice, lol.)

To add to what Mike said, always keep at least a few gallons of water in the bottom of your black tank to help prevent the formation of the dreaded stone mountain. We use the plus we flush our tank routinely to keep our tank clean and odor free. Also, rv specific toilet paper is not necessary, you just need a single ply septic safe TP. Angel soft has been our choice and it is much cheaper and softer than rv TP.

To the other's comments, these tanks, normally on the drivers side, have 4 graduated sensors that detect resistance with the fluid levels rising. If you are only sensing the lowest level sensor, you might check the contact points going up to the second sensor to ensure good contact.

Especially in the black tank, "debris" splatters on the upper sensors, giving you a false, full reading. Not your case but when it happens, a good full flush is necessary to clean them off.

calgon water softener and ice cubes and water 1/2 full and go for a nice ride on a curvy road...then fill and dump...clean contacts ...another piece of advice with girls.....put #1 tp in a basket next to toilet and only flush #2 tp...keeps down the frequency of plugging contacts.
