Help with battery switch

Hi we just purchased a 2013 crossroads z -1 251BH. We didn't receive an owners manual . We took it for a trip this weekend brought it home and it still has power . We cannot find a switch to disconnect the battery from it , without unplugging the actual battery. Help please !! Does anyone know where this switch is? Ive taken the cover off the battery as well nothing there either just a normal looking battery.

It might not have one like our 2011, and have to add one. That's what I did, added one. https://www.amazon.ca/BEP-701-Batter...l_8exy89oyaz_e

There is no switch, you have to disconnect the battery.

Most don’t come with a disconnect switch. So you have to unhook the battery which is a pain. I recommend you purchase one. It is a simple pleasure that makes life easier. This is the one I purchased from Camping World. On mine my batteries are in the front storage in the back right. So I ran my cables through the wall into the side storage and mounted the switch there. So I open the side storage door and my switch is quickly accessible. Don’t pay any attention to the green handle of my hand saw that’s in the picture.

Nice to see these tips. We unhooked the battery on our old camper. It wasn't terrible, but a switch seems so much easier. I was worried I was crazy for wanting to put one in our new camper.

Little things like this makes life easier. You’ll be happy you have it. Also if you don’t have a water thief get one. Good to use at campgrounds where you can’t screw on a hose like a lot of Federal campgrounds.

Please help me understand why would i want to disconnect my battery? I guess if it was in storage for a extended time and not pluged in? Mine stays pluged in all summer while we use it then when i winterize i remove the battery and move it to the shop so i can charge it. About every month or so i put it on a charger to top it up. Just wandering why?

The switch will help keep something from draining the battery over time (like someone leaving a light on, etc). Sure, after long-term storage you probably will still need to charge the battery, but I'm hopeful the switch keeps the battery from draining in the weeks between use during the summer.

Thank you. As I stated I keep our camper plugged in when not in use to keep the battery charged. When we go somewhere with no electric I carry a extra battery. I can see if the camper is in storage with no plugin to disconnect the battery if it is a long time between uses. Learn something new everyday and today I did!

This spring after moving the trailer to the front driveway to it's summer perch, I never hit the kill switch. Probably about 2 weeks later the battery was dead. The only thing I can contribute to the draw is the light in the radio/stereo system, and I suspect that would be enough draw to do it. Now when it's not plugged in the switch is my best friend.

We take our camper out 5-6 times a year from spring to fall. In between those trips if I don’t disconnect the battery it will be dead when I go to use. Having the switch is just a convenience of not having to take the battery box cover off and disconnecting the cable. Over the winter, yes, I take my battery out and bring home.
