hershey park

we booked a trip to hershey next year w/ 4 other familys. it will be our first time there. is there any "must see" or "must do's". me my wife and my three kids ages 11, 7 and 2 years old.

When we use to live in that area The chocolate world was great, if the park is still open your kids will have a ball there. Down in Lancaster, there is the a neat automobile musem, and the Historic Strasburg Rail road. If your bride is into Flea Markets, Up in Denver there was one that was one of the better on in the country. Also in Strasburg there is the toy train musen, with operating lay outs. I am certain things have changed since we moved from in 1991, maybe others can chime in

Ed - we have made many trips to Hershey Park and the Hershey Area. Hershey's Chocolate World that Frank mentions is not actually part of the Park itself, but is located near the park entrance. It is a ride that takes you through a simulated factory. My kids love it because everyone gets a sample at the end of the ride. The down side is the end drops you in the gift shop. Hershey is a nice park, but not a flat park. There are hills to walk up and down. Having kids the same ages (12, 6, and 2) I would recommend a wagon or stroller for your little one. They rent them after you get into the park if you don't want to drag one with you. There is a waterpark area within the park that is part of the admission. The only time I have been there in the summer since it was put in, it was so crowded you could not get close to anything.
If you are staying at Highmeadow Campground, it is nice. A couple of pools, laundry, game room. A little packed in depending on where your sites are, but that's what I expect near tourist spots. The Hershey Gardens are nice, especially when the roses are in bloom. There is also an outlet mall very close by.

auto museum for me,rail and toy train museums for the kids (thomas the train runs non-stop in my house) and of coarse flea markets. what red blooded american woman does'nt enjoy shopping. thanks for your response.

thanks for your tips. your right astrolleris a must. one of the familys that we are traveling with said that we can byuy tickets for the park that would let you go in the night before and get on rides with almost no lines. so i'm sure we'll do that. thanks for your response.

If you enjoy beer, there are lots of brewery tours availible there. Yuengling, the oldest brewery is in Pottsville, PA.



Also, take the tour of town Hershey. Its an enjoyable trip. The Strausburg railroad is a fun trip, ride the train, good photo ops of the country. Just drive around through the Amish country, ans visit some of the towns.

and if Gov. Rendel's bribe works, visit the Harley Davidson museum and assembly plant in York. The plant is located on RTE 30 1/2 mile east of RTE 83S. Edited by: seabee

Boy Walt, I forgot about that one the plant tour I did several times and the Museum was great

I was in Hershey last weekend. I enjoyed the Holiday Casino on Route 743. It's about 5 minutes from the park.
