When using the trailer for the first time, is there a process to follow to enure there is water in the hot water heater prior to turning it on? The trailer isnew and I will be hooking it up to a water supply at the campground.

Also wondering if you drain the HW Htr after each camping trip?

Thanks!!

Just run the water untill all the air is out of the system. I don't drain tank each time but I keep my camper hooked up at hme in case I want to driveway caamp.

If you are hooking up to city water, just turn the water on and wait a few minutes for the hot water tank to fill (make sure the by-pass valve(s) are in the summer position). If you are using your fresh water tank, turn your water pump on and wait until it stops running. The hot water tank will then be full and safe to turn on.

I drain the hot water tank between trips.

If your really want to be sure, burp the T&P valve located on the back of the W/H behind the access panel. If there is water with pressure, then you know it is full.

As others have said open a hot water tap, better yet on all hot water taps several times each. This releases the air in the system and allows water into the tank and pipes. I drain my HWH, Fresh water tank , & low point drainsif I'm going home (I store it off site). I just don't want it sitting around for a couple of weeks with any water in it. I installed a short hose with a drain valve on the end of it to facilitate the draing of the HWH so I don't have to mess around with that plug, has worked great for years.
