Issues with fresh water holding tank

We have a 2014 Crossroads Cruiser Patriot Model CF335SS. Never used the fresh water holding tank until now. Water goes in and after a short time leaks a little around the hose. Then after a while I take the hose out and quickly put the cap on. Water comes out around the cap and out the overflow tube. The gauge shows the tank is empty. Any ideas on why water will not go into the tank?

The gauges are never accurate. Do you think the water is going into the tank? What happens when you open the fresh water drain? Anything come out?

Sounds like the fill tube is kinked. It's about 1" diameter corrugated clear plastic. Ours is visible under the dinette seat. Maybe you have a compartment or access to the place where it comes in. If it is a storage compartment like ours, something inside might have shifted and squeezed it.
