Keeping Kids in their bunks
My daughter like most kids flops around like a fish out of water during the night and no matter how much I ask her to use the lower bunk she wants the upper. I was going to use the old bed rail we had for her but when we did a test fit it pushed the mattress up in an uncomfortable way. The pool noodle idea didn't work we tested it out at home and she rolls right over it. I was thinking about getting a load stabilizer bar for a truck bed wrapping a noodle around that and using that as some sort of a curb.
Any other ideas?
As for my son I have no idea what we will do with him since is pack and play doesn't fit in the bunkhouse and my wife said no to using the dog crate.

Its his collapsable crib.
It's too big to fit in the table area where the lower bunk is.

O.K., thanks. They have so many new gizmos and gadgets since our children were young, I am just not up on all this stuff. (Our youngest is 33.)
How old is your son?

It won't be long till he can occupy the bottom bunk then, and whatever fix you find for the top bunk, you might be able to apply to the bottom one. How about a net of some kind?

on my old Jayco I had built/created a little netting setup that we used with PVC and screwed under the mattress. This was setup to look like a pack-n-play. Would be harder on the top bunk though since I wouldn't want to be going into the ceiling..

We used the dinette lowered and without cushions to put the pack n play on for our (now) 2 year old all last year. It raises the pack n play up a bit but I still had no problem placing him in after he fell asleep in my arms at the campfire.

Some good ideas Here. We used the bed bolster idea for our daughter but it didn't work very well. She's always on the bottom bunk so we just put the vignette cushions on the floor in case she fell. That won't work for the upper bunk. Good luck.

Try using a adjustable shower rod curtain holder. They will expand the entire length and all you have to do is turn to tighten it down. use the noodle from the pool to cover the rod.

Several of the Class C's we've looked at use a netting for the cab over bunk. There are D-rings in the ceiling and the bed support that the netting is hooked to. If you study the photos on their websites you might be able to make it work on the trailer bunks.

One thing that you may be able to rig up is a cargo net for a pickup. They come in a variety of sizes and styles.

Thanks for all the ideas we are using a modified extendable shower rod for the upper bunk and are working on rigging up some sort of net for the lower bunk to keep my little monster in his bed.

we use a bed rail we used in our beds at home, you can buy them at toys r us, or online. We found that onewith a metal frame fits under the matress much better. We still use it for our 11 year old on the top bunk, she fell out of it 4 years ago. Still as a piece of mind for all of us. I will be going to our camper today, i can look at the exact name on the one w use if you like to check it out?? Let me know.

Be careful with netting as it could be a choking/hanging hazard.
