Leak under shower pan

Hi,

We have a 2018 longhorn. Recently I noticed water coming out from under the shower pan. Took the front cover off and there was standing water underneath the shower pan. It only seems to happen when someone is taking a shower, but can’t seem to locate the leak.

Thought it might be a pex line, but can’t find any water dripping from them. The water seems to be coming from the side wall and traveling around the front of the underside pan. I thought it also might be the faucet leaking, but water isn’t coming down from that area. Anyone experience this issue? We also just switched to a more powerful shower head, but don’t know if that would cause it.

First clue - " It only happens when someone is taking a shower" - eliminates the "pressure side". The lines have pressure on them any time you are on city water or your pump is on if someone is using the shower or not. I would be looking at the area where the walls and the floor/pan meet. Make sure it is caulked/sealed good . Also the drain area - Make sure it is still tight to the pan. A water leak is very hard to pinpoint unless you can see exactly where it originates. Water will travel to a low point then drip off so the actual leak maybe over here but dripping over there.

One more question: is the shower floor/pan solid or does it feel a little soft/bouncy? The reason is with a full size person and a soft floor the joint between the floor and the wall may open a little.

Just a few tests - 1 make sure the area under the pan is dry if possible Then to test the drain pour a bucket of water in the bottom if water appears under then the drain is leaking. 2 with everything dry point the shower head at 1 wall at a time. Let it run a few minutes then check for water under the pan. It may help you pinpoint the leaking area.

If it's not leaking when the shower is running, then stand someone in it and run the water. Get your flashlight handy and see where the water's coming from. It's coming from somewhere.

A few more things you can check:
Put 3 or 4 5 gallon buckets full of water in the shower around the perimeter and check. As Dags said, we once had a leak between the bottom of the shower door track and the top of the curb when someone was standing in the shower. Also Check the drain seal (plumbers putty cracks after a while. Check the ABS P-trap nuts for tightness. We had a leak once from a ptrap nut that came loose from vibration. Good luck. Common for many RVs is drain fittings leaking, especially the basket gasket from loose LARGE NUT, but HANDS ONLY/ NO TOOLS, as EASY to CRACK PLASTIC fittings, NUTS.... and THEN you need new parts. Sometimes, without proper support, shower/ tub FLOOR can flex/ bend as you move around, helping CAUSE gasket to leak. RV Movement/ sway during travel is no benefit either. The PAN DRAIN FITTING SITS IN PLUMBERS PUTTY, and then (below pan) RUBBER gasket , solid washer (many plastic or paper, to spin nut against?) then NUT. (ONLY seen it ONCE, but had a clear plastic BEVEL WASHER SNAP once on a sink drain fitting after 15+years and start a leak) Sometimes, we do not know why.
