Led Awning Light Removal

Thinking of getting rid of the super unreliable led awning lights on my 250rb and using the regular lights that hang from the clips that slide into the groove the lights are in and want to see if anyone has had success doing this, thanks

When mine burn out I'm going to add an LED strip to the base of the awning near the camper. This way when the awning is closed I can still use the LED lights. Just food for thought.

My useless led strip is only stuck on with back to back tape. There is no round slot, just recessed indent . But there is a round slot for that purpose,or to add sun shade.

Good idea! mine is the lights in the groove type, dealer said they are siliconed in at both ends and should slide right out, going back to the retro hangers - my wife likes em better.

Those are nice. I'll be doing this upgrade when my LED lights peter out on the end.

Mine have lasted only 2 years. Looks like water gets to them. They fail on the ends first. I guess I should plan their replacement.

Just another item on the long list.

Next!

Consider an RF (radio frequency) control rather than an IR, so you don't have to have line of sight to the box to operate the lights. I think you can buy the components cheaper on Ebay or Amazon and get the exact parts you want. For water proof, look for IP 67 or 69. One or the other is certified for full immersion, I don't recall which. I bought mine piecemeal from China on Ebay and they have been fine under the unit for a year.

Awning Light Removal

Got the LED lights out of the awning, they will pull straight out of the groove if you take it easy, going back to the globes on our trip this weekend. Its a pain but take it slow and they will pull out.

Purchased our 2016 5er in May. On our second camping trip right now. Just reading this post and looked up at the awning lights and; yep have 4 led's in the center that have already gone out. Only used twice. Anyone contacted Crossroads for a replacement set? And is there an aftermarket set that would plug in to the existing plug that is better.

My blew 2 and replaced under warranty. I will never replace them with the same type. When mine go I will by this and tap onto the wires that lead to the present set of lights.

They tie into the wires that go to the present set of led's. Since there's a switch inside I wouldn't need a remote to turn them on, only to change colors and I would want to see what color I'd want. So I would be outside anyway. The IR would then work just fine.
