We went to fill our LP tank on our Cruiser today.they were able to put some gas in it however itwouldn't fill all the way. Then we were toldshould runthey tankout completely then come back & try to refill it.They told us that maybe the valve need to be fixed or they could rebuild it?? question on that. It's about$65.00 for a new tank to buy.

It's quite possible the OPD valve is sticking. You can find them on eBay for about $20, but if you can get a new cylinder from Costco for $45 that's the way I would go and not have to worry about it.

All the newer style tanks now come with a safety shut off valve to prevent overfilling, etc. The valve knob will be triangular in shape instead of the old round style. These valves have a "float" type assembly that shuts offthe flow and now usually only fills up to 1/2 gal short of the old style, sometimes more as you note above. Not too uncommon of a problem.

I know this is probably not your problem. but just future info.friend was having problem with his regulator,it would not go green with either tank. Both tanks had just been filled. He bought a new reg. and we installed it. Guess what same problem.I pulled one my tanks and tried it, now regulator was working. We looked at the valves in his tanks. There is a little keeper ring in there and behind that is the screw in valve. When they had filled the tanks, somehow when they screwed in their adapter they pushed the keeper in and also screwed the inside valve in. So when we hooked up the tank, the shut off valve was not getting pushed in far enough to allow the gas to come out.
