Manual or Auto Brake adjustment

Bought a Sunset Trail 33BD in April and love it. All of the manuals are in the trailer in a storage facility so I can't research myself right now. Do the brakes need to be adjusted manually or are they auto adjusted as they wear? If manual, how often should they be adjusted?

They should be manual and adjusted every 2,000 miles.

My brakes seem to "pulse" right before coming to a complete stop. Is this an adjustment issue or a controller issue? Seems like I am constantly changing the setting.

In my experience, pulsing usually indicates some surface rust on the drum or armature where the magnet rides. Rust changes the coeficient of friction so you get more, then less braking.



Use it enough and the rust should disappear.

After how much use? I put 427 miles on it on our first outing. The pulsing seems to happen from about 15-20 mph to complete stop.

Could be a brake drum out of round ??

Mine pulsed too and someone told me the trailer brakes were braking too much more than the truck. So, I backed off on the setting and the pulsing stopped. I still have plenty of braking power on the camper as witnessed by a couple emergency stops lately.
