I was running the front landing legs up when I notice the positive wire running to the mortor was smoking. It burnt a hole in the wire nut. Dose anybody have any idea what might have happened. The trailer was going up fine and there was no noise that I could hear.

Was the wire nut tight on the wires? Loose wire connections can act that way.

I can't say for sure. Crossroads put a new switch on last Nov. I haven't used it much since then.

Check it out and see if that could be it. If they are loose tighten the connection and try it again and see if it fixes it.

It burnt the wire nut just about off. I will put a new nut on tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks

Don't just put a new wire nut on. Cut the wires back a couple of inches then strip them and twist together, then put a new wire nut on. Be sure it's big enough as the wiring to the motoris heavy gauge, #10 I believe. Probably a good time to check the rest of those connections.

Wire nuts can come loose and fall off. It's likely that the burnt wire nut you had, was loose. The landing gear drive motor draws a fair amount of current and if the connection was loose, it would have produced a lot of heat at it. If everything appeared ok, then clip off the burnt part of the wires and strip them. Twist them together with pliers and then screw on the wire nut. Once you've done that, take a length of electrical tape and wrap it around the wire nut down to the pair of wires in the same direction as you screwed on the wire nut. This will prevent the wire nut from vibrating loose over time.

I found the culprit it was me!I forget to raise the rear jacks. Fortunately, the wire got hot and I noticed it. I hate it when I do dumb things! God was with me, no damage done. Thanks for all the help.
