Need some advice
Hi All. I'm new to the Forum so apologies if this has been addressed earlier. I have a 2016 Crossroads Cruiser Aire, bought it new. It has had a few teething problems, aggravating but not really costly. In the summer, I noticed a strange crack appearing in the side wall under the RR window. There were (are) no signs of impact- and as the first (and only as far as I know) owner, I know that there has been no impact. I watched the crack and as fall approached realized that it extended down behind a decal- total of about 12" top to bottom with a small semi-circle at the top. I called CR Customer Support, sent pix and asked them what they made of it. They logged the report and told me to get it to a dealer for evaluation for possible structural failure. I booked the first available appointment in late October and took it in then. The dealer's assessment says there was previous damage, estimated the repair to be north of $3400 and CR says that they are declining warranty coverage. Is this normal? It would be a massive understatement to say that I am disappointed and more than a little mad about the fact that it had been damaged without disclosure. And even more disappointed that, if the damage was repaired and the unit sold as new the warranty is no longer in force. I really don't have that kind of money sitting around. Any advice is welcome.

Put some red tuck tape over it...show off the quality and support you got.

The middle pic with the window shows the location. Its on the wall of the RR side behind the slide and the wheels.

I'm still confused, it does not appear to be near a stress point, can you zoom out?

Sorry, the unit is still the dealer so I can't take an additional pic. But the middle pic shows the right side, entrance side of the camper near the back corner. The back wheel is visible in the photo. According to the dealer, the crack isn't where frame cracks can occur. Their damage report says that there was "previous damage repaired."

Agreed - however the pattern and run out on this crack appears to be symptomatic of a stress crack.

The only way I can imagine stress being put in that area is if there was too much weight put on the rear stabilizer jacks.

No, it has manual jacks. One of the many odd things is that stress crack aside, the Tech's evaluation was that it had received damage and been previously repaired. The Jack's were installed at the dealership where it was purchased- I know b/c In watched them being put on. They were not torqued to the frame and we took it back before leaving town the next morning. So I'm still left wondering abt not only cause but timing of said "previous" repair and why that failed also.

Eyou can easily tel if the filon siding was repaired as the original has a sort of fiberglass stringy look and a repaired spot will be sanded smooth like a car finish.
