This horse is pretty well beaten until we see the comparison.

I agree. 99% of the owners do not like the new warranty when compared to the old one and Crossroads does. Until they can show everyone a side by side comparison proving the new one is better than the old one it is a stand off. Now on the other forumfrom the post I have seen it looks like several owners of CR as well as many non CR owners think they have made a very bad move andwill losesales.

I guess as a potential new customer following the forum I begin to wonder. I have had Crossroads at the top of my list for the construction, quality and warranty reason. I see a lot of warranty issues that I didn't before. It seemed anything anyone had was minor and almost do it yourself. Now I read about bigger issues all over. Changing the goriila cage from screwed and glued to welded due to efficiency etc. tells me that saving costs was put before quality. how many other things are being changed that we don't hear about to save money. Unless this new warranty looks amazing I know this product will be coming off my short list soon. There are other mfg building good quality units out there as well and they may now get consideration even though we thought we had a cruiser in the sights.

Find the model you like and then purchase "locally". (within an hours drive if possible). If there is warranty work needed you don't have a long distance to travel. Every RV I have owned required warranty work. Some major and some minor.

Give it a good walk down before purchasing - verify operation of all components. If there are any issues do not sign any purchase documents until the rig has been proven to be 100% correct. Ours required warranty work before it left the lot.</span>

Here is one thing I like, for my money I like a welded cage as opposed to screwed, glued whatever.I have had Triton snowmobile and atv trailers for years, all welded aluminum construction and no problems.

Hey appreciate your comment about welds on active sport vehicles and trailers.5th wheels carry a serious amount of weight. The physics are totally changed. I am not an engineer but it is apples and oranges. We need more info and input on the weld process in the the Rv application. I believe what you said about trusting the weld in your situation.

We bought a new 2013 Crossroads Zinger from a dealership in Canada in June 2012. Not only were we told that it had a two year warranty, but the trailer itself has "2 year warranty" written on a sticker on the fiberglass. So, can I now assume thatour two year warranty is now aone year warranty under the new 12-point plan?

Shoowana,
You have a 2/5 warranty. It is only units built after Sept 1st that are under the new warranty.

I wasn't aying so much as screwed and glued is necessarily any better than welded and by the way my current unit is welded but when I read things out there that they did it to be more efficient etc, that says more about doing it to save costs. I do that for a living myself so understand what that is about.I guess my point is are they doing these things to improve the product or improve on efficencies only, which translates to more profits but not necessarily bettery quality in the big picture. I guess time will tell.

After reading so much on this forum about CR going to full welding, yesterday (Oct 6th) the DW and our granddaughter drove to Menahsa, WI to pick up a case of Solvit. On the way I stopped at Quietwoods RV, a large dealership, that sells, Open Range, Redwood, Trilogy and Columbus. All carry a 2 year warranty and each and every one say that their aluminum cage frames are all welded. I think CR's is just joining into the "norm" if you will. Now, I believe after looking at the Trilogy and how well they are made that perhaps they may use robotics, I'm not sure. I just know I have never seen a 5th wheel made quite like this one was. From the solid wood doors to the fact that all of the walls felt "solid" when you pressed on them, even the rounded walls going up the stairs had some kind of backing. I was impressed by the electronic commode, using the macerator system, the 97# built in LP tank (along with 3 20# tanks. This unit is truly made for full-timing if ever a unit was. Now, after looking at the Trilogy and the Open Range (equally well made) we looked at the Redwood last. The Redwood is indeed a well made unit. However, I will tell you that the Redwood at $100,000 plus, would take 2nd place to the Trilogy at only $72,000, I must tell you. I know there are units costing more than both of these, the Deluxe Suites, etc. But for my 2 cents these were all well made uniits. JMHO

That's the rub isn't it? Often times, the perception of quality is heavy and solid and costly. If you want a 15,000 lb 5ver with solid wood everything for $150,000 then you can certainly find that.

I'd rather have a 10,000 lb 5ver that has a weld test program so I can be assured that it won't come apart in 5 years. Since we're dreaming here, how about a standard way to measure how well these units can maintain their temperature? How about using components, like axles, wheels and tires that are not at the limit of their capacity?

I have a question regarding the new One Year Warranty and 12 Point Promise. What happened to the 10 year warranty on the rubber roof? Did it go the path of the 5 year structural warranty and now is only a 1 year warranty?

We were considering a Rushmore on the upgrade next year, but I do not want to spend that kind of money on a one year warranty. Not having a dealer near me does not bother me as much as cheaping the warranty

Tom:

How is anyone supposed to know that? It is not addressed in the new warranty format. I am hoping that there will be some clarification soon and some drastic changes made to the new warranty program. To go from a two year warranty to a one year warranty and reduce the five year structural warranty to a one year warranty automatically suggests that CrossRoads doesn't have any faith in the quality of the products that it is producing. If the cost of having to do warranty repairs is driving this issue then the answer is simple. Just make sure that the units coming off of the production line are built the way they should be and after delivery warranty costs would no longer be an issue.

George, until we have the details we're all just guessing. I'm willing to hold judgement until I see them.

Tom, know you've got a lot on your plate, but the comparison must have been done by someone in your firm already. Hopefully you can produce it soon.

I have to agree with Al. They had to have done a comparision between the two that would show how the 1+Promise would be much better for the customer before theyput the new warranty plan out on theweb site for the world to see. They had to know in advance this would be a hot topic item on this forum and others.

I would have thought that they would have had a comparison by now
