I have followed this forum since I bought my 2005 Cruiser new.I have seen the number of Crossroad problems increase dramaticly. I am going to purchase a new 5th wheel in the spring and will check the Toronto rv show .Your product was top of my list ,but if it comes down to a choice between two rvs of equal value a two year warrantee will beat your warantee hands down.I camp from June to September,so if I have any problems after that I will not find them till next year, therefore I have in reality a 4 month warrantee.Your previous claim over the years was that the 2 year warantee was better than other rvs.Now that many have that 2 year warantee you go back to the old ways ,Are you not confident that your product is good for two years. All rv manufacturers appliances have the same warantee period so your 1 year warantee is on the structure.I will not recommend your product witha 1 year warantee to anyone and I myself do not see a Crossroads rv in my driveway next spring

For kicks I just looked back through the thread and noticed some things.....

1. Tom first posted the 12 point promise on 9/27/12

2. Tom deleted some of his posts (look back and you can see for yourself)

3. On 9/30/12 Tom promised to post a side by side comparison

4. Tom's daughter injured on 9/30/12

5. Some folks on the forum have been very impatient waiting for Tom's post.

6. On 10/15/12 papa2 joined those who are impatiently waiting for the side by side

comparison

Some of us seem to have made up our minds without seeing what Tom has to offer. Reminds me of politics. No point listening to the other candidate because I don't want to be confused by the facts. I don't swing that way I can keep an open mind but the longer we wait for what should have been a simple excel spread sheet display, the more predisposed I am to rejecting what the comparison shows.

I've already offered my conjecture. Others have as well. If the 12 point promise is truly better, please let us see for ourselves and let us make up our own minds. Also, let this be a lesson.Beta testingwould have beenan excellent way to avoid what is fast becoming a gaffe for CR.

Sorry for the long delays - I have the comparison basically done - I just need to get it on the forum. I'm on vacation all this week but will find time. I did the comparison on the 7 hour plane ride. Yikes. Too long.

Anyway. You'll see a comparison soon.

Thanks,

Tom

I dont understand, if CR is going forward.... why didnt they just add the 12 point to their existing warranty, which would set them even higher up in being a trend setter, and then also update their old 2 yr warranty to a 2 year warranty that covered everything that the new 1 yr warranty covers?

The reasoning Im using is, you dont see the auto companies reducing their bumper to bumper warranties, they added to them, and also added a power train warranty that was extended past the 3yr 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty.

because this would actually make sense. I am still waiting to see this comparison but it is going to be very hard to convince me that this is better than the 2+5 warranty.

I have read most, but not all of the posts in this thread. Almost 4 years ago I bought my Crusier 5th wheel, only after carefully researching the product for more than 2 years. I was most impressed by the recommendations of folks I met in various campgrounds and how pleased they were with their Cruiser. Secondly, the Crusier came in exactly the floorplan I was looking for. I will have to say the warranty was only of interest to me as to it's coverage of major problems.

Although I personally fixed several problems I never once had to use my warranty during the initial two year period. That says a lot about previous Crosssroads quality. With that said, I really like my trailer and will keep it a couple more years. Will I purchase another? NO!

There has just been too many hints of decreased quality control on newer units. I am more concerned as to "why" Crossroads shortened the warranty, than I am in the warranty itself. It tells me they were encountering way too many warranty issues in the second year to make the two year warranty profitable to their bottom line.

As customers, we are letting this new policy bother us way too much. The new "12 point plan" is admirable, but no longer is there anything special about Crossroad's quality or warranty. We have many other choices out there that offer as much as Crossroad offers. Why feel that we need to be locked in to Crossroad products, as they are not the product they once were.

Should they ever feel the need to restore themselves to a leader of quality in the RV industry we can once again own, be proud of, and recommend their products.

thank you,

"Our new warranty is much better! It covers the same items but for less time!" My quotes, not attributable to a person real or imagined. There is just no logic in this obvious cost cutting measure. If you are building a quality product that you are proud of you back it up that way. Back in the day cars had 4,000 mile warranties. That grew to 36,000 or 50,000 miles. Today some companies build great cars and warranty them for 100,000 miles or ten years. Some American companies have 100,000 mile/5 year powertrain warranties. For the life of me, aside from Chrysler going from 50,000 to 100,000 then back to 36,000 miles, I cannot remember any company reversing a warranty such as has been done by CR.

Empirically I agree Art, but Tom insists the new warranty is broader and covers more than the old one. Does any one know if the CR warranty has changed in the past 4 years? I recall that it was bumper to bumper for the first two years, something that Mr Montague claims is not the case, i.e. that it is NOT bumper to bumper. That does not mean that CR itself administered or paid for the warranty claim, it may have been Atwood or Norcold, etc ... but I thought it was bumper to bumper.

Thanks. I don't what can be better than bumper to bumper in terms of coverage. Having one party administer the claims process really doesn't affect us unless doing so ourselves. Most of us submitted warranty claims through dealers who handled all that for us.

It was stated as not being bumper to bumper but I never had to handle 2nd or third party claims when I owned mine........

When I bought mine in 07 I had a frame hanger problem . Got a hold of crossroads and they told me to contact lippert. I did tell them I bought from crossroads and I felt it was their job to fight lippert. They agreed and took care of it. Now I believe they won't tell you to get a hold of the other party. Big deal They sold the camper not someone else.
