Just saying.

This would not be possible, new warranty or not. I have spent countless hours in a pre-Thor Crossroads product. It is made with "real" wood trim, the carpet is a heavy grade, the windows and insulation are far better. The fit and finishwas done, visibly,by some who had pride in what they did and they took thetime to do it right. I purchased my '04 because of this experience only to find out it was not of the same quality. Then I learned that Crossroads, thesmall company, had been bought out by the big boys. You see this all the time, in place of quality you get quantity. It's all about the number of trailers they can send out the door. This means the conversion cost is lower and the profits are higher. CrossRoads is just another RV manufacturer with nothing special to offer.

if the warranty is a major part of your decision to buy then maybe you should buy another brand, crossroads is not the only game in town.....I have had 3 crossroads 5th wheels and they all had good and bad points but to say they are sooooooo much better than any other brand is really not true....crossroads will honor it's warranty and fix what's wrong but you can be assured that all other manufacture will do the same...I think that thinking that crossroads is far better than any other low or mid level unit just isn't true....just my opinoin..

I agree something is not smelling good here. Obviously a cost or maybe just trying to make the same as all other Thor products is the real reason. If they want to cut back but still look half way there why not just offer a full 2 year warranty. Better than 1 yr and most of the others but gets them off on the 5 year structure part of the warranty. Would probably give us potential buyers a better feel too especially since my current KZ came with the full 2 year as well. Was a nice feel especially since we have a shorter camping season and may take longer to get the bugs out. Lucky for me I didn't have any warranty issues but maybe that says something too!

Well I'll add my two cents also. We bought our Cruiser 5er in July 2011, and yes the warranty was a swaying factor. Buton our 2nd outing with the new rig I was at the outdoor kitchen grilling and noticed a large wet spot under the rear of the camper with a steady drip. I at first thought it to be condensation from the A/C unit as it was hot as haydes and humid as could be. But after further investigation, I saw the water was coming from the center of the camper 3/4 way back. I was able to track it down to a loose connection under the bunks at the water heater. And unfortunately the damage had been done. Half the underbelly insulation was sopping wet and the sub floor had been affected also. With the leak where it was there was no way to see it until it had finally saturated everything in its path and made its way out. Then after 2 weeks at the dealer for repairs I went to pick it up and luckily I did adetailed inspection before leaving with the unit. Half hearted repairs were found quickly. I still had wet insulation in the underbelly and the seam in the fabric enclosing the underside was pitiful. My 8 year old could have done a better job. Seriously. Well after a heated discussion with the manager I left it to be fixed again. Finally the work was satisfactory and off I went chalking it up to bad luck. The next trip I discovered the awning would not deploy properly and the locks on the awning arms would not seat. Come to find out there was a recall on the locking mechanism and mine was under the recall. Why wasnt this repaired while I was there was my response. Sorry was all I got after another 125mi round trip for another repair in less than 2 months at 3.99 for diesel. Luckily everything else has been smooth sailing since then. And I must say we really love our camper. However, I knew that both of these issues could have easily been prevented with a little pride and quality control. I mean guys the loose fitting behind the heater wasnt even hand tight. Somebody just didnt care. And the awning, the dealer and CR knew of it (recall)but we were never notified until we had a problem. I too was like so, so many that did their homework and read up on RV's before deciding on CR simply due too their rep, warranty, and quality. I understand sometimes things happen when your dealing withsomething with so many componets and moving parts that are towed down the road. But anyone with a functioning brain can see a pattern here. And if not you have blinders on. Now to see the warranty reduced and the smoke and mirrors of some great 12 point inspection is very disheartening. I truly love our rig as it fits us to a tee. But im very concerned as a owner and customer of what I believed to be a stand up company back peddling. Im sure the back peddling remark will be denied, but reduction in warranty time and increasing problems speak otherwise. If the 12 point inspection is so great as Tom implies it to be, and the quality, materials, and workmanship as top notch as ever (again implied by Tom), then add it to the 2 year warranty and really make yourself stand out from the competitionif your so sure and proud of you product. Sure makes sense to me. But then again, im prone to use common sense sometimes.
I sure hope imwrong in what I feel and see, but as I said earlier...... something smells!
And where is that comparison at???

calgarygringo, I would either keep your KZ product or look at upgrading to a Durango since they are on par with the Cruiser. You had good luck with yours and they still have a full 2 year bumper to bumper warranty. I know the StoneRidge is on our list for our next unit.

So where is Tom Montague? Is he still with the company? All of a sudden it seems as if he has dropped off the planet. Still waiting for the comparison to show me that less is better than more when it comes to warranty

Dale, according to his last stalling post on Monday 10/15he is on vacation. As you can see he has access to the forum but still can't deliver. I would say his credibility is about shot at this point.
Sorry for the long delays - I have the comparison basically done - I just need to get it on the forum. I'm on vacation all this week but will find time. I did the comparison on the 7 hour plane ride. Yikes. Too long.
Anyway. You'll see a comparison soon.
Thanks,
Tom

Sort of like Nixon's "Secret Plan to End The War" of 1968. The plan, get elected, continue the war, kill 30,000 more Americans and get reelected. Not quite the same but it puts me in mind of that.

I hope that is not how fast this new warranty policy gets looked after when in question. Next camping season will come around and will still be waiting for a reply to authorize the fix.

Looks like the "Warranty Fallout" poll is not going to good for them either. And the 1+Promiseis still getting negative reviews on rv.net and that site sees thousands of hits per day. I am sure that is boosting their sales......

Well Tom is still around, in a message to him I requested my testimonial that was under their owners page previously be removed. Got a "will do" response. Thank you Tom for your response, speaks volumes...

I saw the statement below in the post about the Crossroads warranty issue on rv.net andI think this pretty much sums it up. I would say the "Warranty Fallout Poll" on here would back this up from the results so far.
"when they cut their warranty in half, the reason is simple .... they are having more claims than they can financially handle .... when a company builds a loyal customer base via producing and backing good products, they have a tough time holding onto those customers when the quality/support goes down."
