Sounds like there could be a bad ground to the frame for the generator or on the house batteries. When you start the rv you are connecting the coach batteries & house batteries together in the circuit, the coach battery ground is good since it cranks up the RV, thus when it's connected to the Onan it cranks it as well. Check the grounds for the generator and the house battery's. Could be wrong but it's a start.
