Onan P2500i Generator

Anyone with personal knowledge have any comments, positive or negative, on this generator? Many on-line reviews from other sources aren't great which is surprising to me as Onan historically has been a great generator. Thanks. Doug

It's my understanding that the lower end units are made by a different manufacturer and just is using the Onan name. I was all excited when I saw them go on sale at Camping World last spring. I read the reviews and decided to get the Champion instead even though (at the time) it was more.

I have the Onan p4500i and they are made by ducar. Yes some of the components are cheap. However I have also had the same generator that was badged as a King Canada. The electronics were poor and not the engine and generator.

I do however suggest going to costco and getting a inverter from there. I have gone through a firman, and Champion generators. I wore them completely out.
And with the costco warranty, if not happy you can return for complete refund.
No place else will allow return with a satisfaction guarantee.

As for my Onan, I have no complaints so far. I had to replace the carb on it which was covered under warranty

Cummins bought out On an and is using Onanin their small whole house gensets.
I have a 900cc two cylinder in my 17Kw set and it just ran for three days solid due to a hurricane. No problems.
