Question Out with the old couch

Ok so here is my question. We are wanting to replace the pullout sofa with a couple of reclining chairs and are wondering if the change in weight on that side will make any difference overall to the stability or tow-ability of the trailer?

Any thoughts?

Gee, we are getting ready to do the same thing but never gave any thought to the weight differential. I know a lot of people have swapped out their tables, sofas, etc. It will be interesting to hear their thoughts.

Shouldn't be a problem. In our '04 Cruiser main slide, we replaced the jack-knife sofa and free standing dinette with a lot more weight and never had a problem. We had a sofa with storage underneath, carried dog food, a sewing machines, bottled water, etc. Also storage behind the sofa with canned goods and other food items. Finally a computer table and chair plus lots of books. However, the majority of that weight was toward the outside wall and therefore resting on the main floor guide when the slide was retracted. If you are concerned, you could use some rubber or carpet cushions under the inner edge when the slide is in, just remember to remove them prior to opening the s/o.

Roadie...I have the same unit as you and weighed it this summer loaded and noticed that the curb side (with fridge, pantry, and most storage for pans, etc) was a little heavier than the slide side...so you should be fine. I also put 3-10"x10" pieces of 3/4" plywood under the carpet edge of the slide so you can step on the slide when it is in and that will even out the weight of the slide when in and travelling.

Thanks for the great reply folks but I was thinking I would be lighter on the slide side if I removed the couch and replaced it with chairs.
Now with Harley saying his is heavy on the appliance side I am even more concerned?

roadie , the weight dif was not that much , just the design of our unit with most storage for heavy stuff on curb side. plus the awning and out kitchen with fridge and more storage in out kitchen on same side.
