Propane Fridge Question

Our new trailer has a propane or power fridge. We were camping, running on battery, and when the battery died the fridge started making a clicking sound. I thought the fridge only ran on propane, not battery??

Ditto, No Battery = No igniter/fuel for fridge. The clicking sound could be just the attempt at trying to ignite or purge propane(solenoid valve)under low DC voltage conditions.
Typically the newer fridges only run on either 110VAC or Propane, have not seen a 12VDC fridge for some time.

Weather on propane or electric your frig uses 12 volts.

On propane the frig still needs 12v for the control board, ignitor, gas valve, etc. Sorry, no 12v, no frig.

One of the reasons I run with 2 batteries in the trailer - furnace, water pump, fridge, slides, jacks and lights need DC power. When I dry camp for a weekend and need to run the furnace the extra battery comes in handy. Plus with out present trailer all of the slides are electric Vs hydraulic so I figured an extra battery would be good.

I replaced the original battery box with one that is designed for 2 batteries - NOCO HM426 Black Dual 6V Commercial Battery Box. I installed the vent from the old battery box onto the HM426. When I replace the 12 volt batteries I will replace them with 6 volt batteries.
