I have a slow propane leak that I can't locate. With both tanks off the indicator on the regulator changes from green to red in about two days, so I know there is a leak somewhere. My question is does the indicator measure loss of pressure on the high side, low side or both sides of the regulator? So far I haven't found the leak with soap suds. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you smell propane at any time? Let me get this right also, you are saying your supply lines are loosing gas presure in two days. Is your refrigerator in the gas mode, or a burner partially on? Just a thought.

I am not convinced you have a leak. If it takes two days to go down, that to me is normal. That's how long my gauges take to read zero as well. I never smell propane and I have heard that the regulator will bleed off pressure if the supply is turned off.

I agree with Stan. You mention the indicator goes from"green to red" is that not what is supposed to happen with the tanks off

All the appliances are off and no smell of gas. The regulator has never gone to red with the tanks off on any of my RVs. It's a sure sign of a small leak.

I attended a propane seminar at the GS rally and the instructor said that was how to check if there was a leak, have the tanks shut off and watch the indicator, if it turns red a leak is present. I don't remember if he said anything about which side of the regulator the leak would be located. I don't think it makes any difference but not sure.Edited by: Russ-Carol

No propane smell when the tanks are on. The tank compartment seems well vented and I think the leak is so small that the smell dissipates.

OK I mispoke I should have said empty not off. The black lever indicates what tank is in use. When the tank is empty the valve switches to the other tank but the indicator will show red for the lever slected tank. You have to manually turn the lever to the full tank and it is time to refill the empty. If I am incorrect the I have had it wrong all along. Appreciate input.

Mine takes two to four days to bleed off, green to red. Normal, no leaks. For info only.

I agree with the others. I've had four different RVs, and this was the norm with all of them.

Even if it was a small leak you would be able to smell gas. If you still feel unsafe, go to your dealer or somewhere that has a gas sniffer and have them check your RV.

Sounds like this may be the norm. I just spoke with my neighbor and his regulator does the same. A service rep gave me some leak detector spray that they use so I'll give that a try. I think I will disconnect the regulator from the RV line and plug the regulator then I should be able to determine onwhich side of the regulator I'm getting the bleed off.

I spoke with my dealer today and he said this was normal since the gas pressure was lower than the atmospheric pressure.

End of story.

Thanks for all your comments.Edited by: Russ-Carol
