Hello all,
I'm am new to the forum, and a new owner of crossroads sunset trail reserve 32FR. My question is this. Is the protection plan offered by dealers wroth the money? It to protect the paint from fading and make washing and care easier, but it's almost a extra $1500.00. This is my first new trailer and I plan to have it for a very long time. Thanks for your input.

We bought the paint and interior plan (coatings). I feel that it has made cleaning bugs ( the masive amounts MN has) a lot easier to get off. Ask to feel how slippery the outside is on a coated to noncoated is.Then again maybe a good waxing good feel the same.It did seem that I was told the trailer didn't need waxing for 5 years though. The interior is SIMILAR to Scotch-Gaurd but on the floor as well.Edited by: we-canoe

For $1500 I can wax or have our trailer waxed many times over the years. Use Rejex or Rain X on the front and it will help in bug clean up. Ask them how long they are going to warrantythe exterior of your trailer for that $1500. Get it in writing.

One of my rights of spring is waxing the trailer. Wait for a nice day, turn on some music, keep the beer close and do one side a day. Works like a charm.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new camper. I have only been part of this forum for a couple weeks and everyone has been great and I have learned a lot already. The wife already gives me a hard time for the amount of time I spend on here.

That exterior deal sounds like a good idea, but when I bought my truck the guy I bought it from said he always had the special wax job done that lasts a year. Not sure if its even close to the same type of product used on a camper, but it doesn't seem to work on my truck all that great and I still end up waxing. I guess it also depends on if you a type of person that likes to tinker with the camper and likes to spend time cleaning and don't care about waxing. If you don't mind waxing for a day then you could prolly save yourself some money. If you don't then I would spend the money.

We skipped it. They will offer you all sorts of extra warranties and extra coatings etc. Bottom line, you need to decide what its worth to you. We decided we could just wax the trailer ourselves.

I would be willing to bet this cost the dealer about $75 tops. In the vehicle trade this is called a "pack", along with extended warranties, pre-paid service plans, undercoating, gap insurance, etc. Keep in mind that the sales department and finance departments at the RV dealer are separate cost centers whose main goal is to make a profit for the dealer.

This is just a very expensive item with little advantage for you and a huge profit for the dealer.
