Hi all,

Quick question to the masses, I Pick up my new camper Friday and not sure what to expect as we're trading in our old Jayco.

Questions
  1. Should I expect the dealership to move my WDH to my new rig as part of the process?
  2. If not, can I tow without the WD hitch just to get home? Going about 3 hours and new trailer hitch weight unloaded is #300 below my max.

This forum has been great to get answers as I'm new to the Crossroads family and moving up from a 26' hybrid trailer, so cautious about towing a 34' trailer now.

Yes, the dealer should help you with moving the WD setup and adjusting it. No, do not tow without WD installed if your tounge weight is over 500#. With a 34 foot trailer I would assume your tounge weight is 800 to 1000#s. empty

I agree with Jason, your dealer will set your hitch up for you and make sure it is properly adjusted. I wouldn't tow one three hours without it.

I traded in a TT for a new 5er. My dealer is moving my backup camera, my oxygenics showerhead, and installing my Bully Dog, along with setting up the hitch. I didn't expect him to do the Bully Dog but he said, "I've done so many, it's best if it's done right." I love my dealer

Thanks for the great feedback.

Yes, I would assume the dealer would move my existing hitch. my tongue weight dry is on 635, that why I spent alot more money on the Crossroads because of the superlites weight.

But I agree, I've never towed my hybrid (other than when i park it up the road) without my WDH.

The only issue is that I pulled the trigger on a propride hitch and will be pulling my existing WDH of the trailer as soon as I get home, so whatever time they spend on the existing hitch is only to get me home.

Seans been great at Propride and recommended I install the hitch myself since most dealers are not familiar with the hitch and would most likely be doing their first one, so might as well be me doing the install. Besides, I do most of my own auto repairs, so this shouldn't be a big deal to install.

I did have to upgrade my Torque wrench to go to #250!
