RCA DVD player

Well, it made a year! I never did like it anyway, so even tho it may be covered under the extended warranty I purchased, I think it'll go in the dumpster. Anyone got any recommendations for a replacement? I think I want something with a UHF remote.....that IR just won't work thru the tinted glass.

Ours started up this morning sounding like a turbo! I gave it a smack and it calmed down. Tonight I turned it on again and the same thing happened. Had it since April, looks like they're going to send me another unit of some kind. I to would be interested in an upgrade. Anyone have anysuggestions? We sure do enjoy the surround sound though so it will have to be something comparable to tie everything into.

They sent me a RCA BlueRay. FM with it also. So far its works great.Edited by: Ramn4ver

That is what we have now. We do like it, but the sound it makes when you turn it onindicates it's not going to be around long. Who did you call at CR? With all of the changes going on over there, it's getting hard to keep up!

Well, CR replaced the surround sound with the Blu Ray system. Seems to be a very good upgrade to the player we had. I was gonna trash the old one, but my service guy says, "oh no, CR will replace that". We ain't talkin' about no dealer either. He was gonna install, but I was embarrassed as I had let a couple wires get loose, and had to pull the fireplace out to retrieve them. Main thing....the dang remote will work thru the smoked glass....from my recliner! Happy camper here!

The nice thing about the upgraded blue ray player. It has a rca jack in the back to plug your TV into. So you can listen to the TV broadcast thru the stereo speakers.

Yesterday the blue ray player started making a humming noise through the speakers. It was turned off. Driving my DW crazy until I came home. I unplug the HDMI cable from blue ray to TV. It stopped. Guess I'll be calling crossroads again. Gezzz.
And the fireplace fan motor making all sorts of scary noises.

Well installed new RCA unit....I'm not happy.. changing FM channels, nasty click noise thru the speakers. Change from FM to DVD..nasty noise thru speakers...call in again to CR...Ugg

Well CR sending out # 4 RCA player... They probably have a warehouse full of these players. Guess I'll start looking for something else. Maybe a Sony or LG..something that works correctly.

I posted in another thread about my Genesis 2.0 that died, and is a couple of weeks out of warranty. No help from either the local dealer or Concertone, I suppose because it is out of warranty. I am strongly considering replacing it with a Jensen AWM975. I've emailed CR but if I don't hear anything today I will probably just bite the bullet and get the Jensen. Failure of the Genesis after 12 and a half months and used a half dozen times doesn't inspire confidence in replacing with the same thing.

Don't forget that the Genesis 2.0 is taller and narrower than the Jensen so there will be some woodwork involved.

Yeah, I have been looking at that. Not sure the cover of the Jensen will be enough so I will need to figure out something.

Finally found the time to replace my 3rd RCA Blue ray with my 4th RCA...this is a true comedy... thru in Capt. Phillip movie. In between the new movies coming out. Each time it changed movie preview, a nasty buzz noise. Like a basketball buzzer timer in the gym going off. Both rca cable or HDMI cable. I give up.. glad my PS3 WORKS.
