Perhaps the thing to do is to replace the entire fixture. There are a lot of options these days, and you can find just what you want, with the right light and such.
I didn't like the intense white light spectrum of a couple lights in my camper, so I changed the fixture just so I could get a warmer, softer light.
I paid attention to the 'color temperature' of the LED, it tells you how bright or warm the light is. The lower the number, the warmer, yellow-er the light is. 2700 is a warm, candle-light type light. Incandescent 'cool white' light is in 3500-4100 color spectrum.
