I haven't cleaned my roof since I've owned the 5er. Health reasons have stopped me from getting up there and doing it. Today I decided it was time to get it done. (cabin fever)
The back end of the roof was exceptionally bad from the water running out of the A/C.
I know there has been a lot of talk about what to use for a cleaner. Most thought spic- span was the best, but can't find it any more. I use a product called, Solvit. I have used this for years. I first started using it for the black streaks that were bad with the older aluminum sided rigs. Doesn't seem to hurt the wax job either. (I rinse real often tho)
As you can see it did a pretty good job.

I just use a cheap cleanser and a brush. I think it is the same idea of using the spic n span. What ever you use make sure it is not a petroleum base as it will damage the roof. The pictures look great I wish mine looked that good and I wash it a couple times a year

Went to the solvit website and sounds like some good stuff. A powder mixed with water to clean the surface. here is the website www.solvitcleaner.com

I buy it at the local grocery store. They use to be IGA chain, now they are called "Our Family"
I did use a scrub brush. This isn't a spray on rinse off thing, but it does work. there was quite a few stains up there plus some dirty foot prints from the dealer being up there working on the antenna. For the real bad areas I had an empty spice bottle (with the shaker holes in it) filled with solvit and I shook some on let it set a couple minutes. About 2hrs. of on the knees scrubbing.
They claim it's safe to use on just about anything.
Here's a pic of the container. It's about 5in. high.

Finally made it to the roof cleaning today and used Solvit. I must say that I'm impressed, made the chore easier since I didn't have to scrub as much.

We had already used it in the laundry and it has removed stains nothing else would touch. Next will be the carpet cleaner.

Thanks for the tip Lloyd!

Hey Old Farmer, what are you doing on your knees for two hours? Don't you know that they've invented some really good scrub brushes that are mounted on long handles? ;-)
Anyhow I looks really good and I'll remember that as my trailer gets a few more months on it.

Lloyd-

As long as you're making lists for roof cleaning, forget about Frank's offer of the Flying J. You can have a spot in the campground pictured here:
