Roof Type Question

Recently I had a roof leak and went to the dealer to buy seal. He asked me if my roof was TPO or EPDM. I had no idea but bought some sealer that apparently works for either. I own a 2014 Sunset Trail ST270BH and was wondering if anyone knew what types of roof material was used on that model and year? TPO or EPDM?

Also, I was considering power washing my roof as opposed to using any type of cleaner. Is it OK to power wash the roof?

Let me know, thanks

I just found a really good video on the EPDM/ TPO question, its on the Dicor website, heres how to get there:

Rudy Rv Care
EPDM or TPO

The EPDM/TPO video shows very well how to determine. The short of it he recommends you take off one of the frames around a roof vent from inside the trailer, mine has four small screws. Inside where the frame is usually some of the roofing material fabric. Basically EPDM has a white side and a black side, most others will be TPO. My 2007 Sunset Trail has EPDM. This is about a five minute process. He does go on and give you some more instruction if the above doesn't work.

I wouldn't use a power washer on my roof.

What kind of leak and where? I have an Alpha roof. I am seeing more bubbles on my roof. I think it is too new to have problems same with yours.

Well actually not. Last spring I noticed dimples in the front cap on my trailer. I took it to the dealer and they said it had roof leaks. Since it was still under warranty, Sunset Trail had them put on a brand new cap, which they did. But when I was camping in September in a driving rain storm, water began leaking down onto the front of the bed. So when I got home I climbed up to take a look and found that there were leaks where the cap met the roof membrane, so that's when I repaired the roof since it was now out of warranty

Sorry to hear that. I did examine my front cap and observed a lack of sealant in some spots so I filled it myself. I am super paranoid about leaks. Since they replaced that whole piece it should be covered for something. I would call Crossroads or try to reach ChristianM on this site.
