Rusty Entry Steps

Has anyone had to paint their entry stairs? Mine are starting to rust all around the complete entry system. Is there a better paint that can be used to stop this problem?

Ace hardware stores sell a great aersol black semi gloss paint that I've had good luck with on my pinbox, axle hangers, and frame. Be sure to prep with a stiff bristle brush and ensure the surface is oil and dirt free.
