Anyone; What is being used, Satellite-wise in your RV? Have a new Rushmore and will be a Fulltimer within the year, if not sooner. Considering Direct with permanant mounting. Thanks

After seeing a few setups, and talking to a few others at the Texas Rally, I bought a used dish and built a PVC mount. After doing some wiring mods in the Ent Center, I simply take one of my two receivers from the house (I can watch different channels in the bedroom and liv room). I haven't set it up on the road yet, but it works in my backyard. I have Dish Network in the house so this is fairly painless. There was a thread on this a few months back so do a search.

I have the dish system mounted on a tripod at current time. However, I don not have HD tv and a just a 2 cone ant. I have seen many dish and Direct 3 coned ant up and around. A permanently mounted dome is nice as the system searches out the sat's from what I understand. The only problem with a mounted system is that if a tree is in the way you must move a little.

I think both satellite companies are about the same and when it come to upgrading if dish doesn't give me a deal then I will head over to direct.

I use a Wingard Carryout and a Dish 211K receiver. Dead easy to setup and works great.

Dish network on a tripod for me. Dual LNB with 2 receivers. Have a low profle king dome waiting to be installed. Hoping to be able to set it up so i can still use the dish on the tripod if i'm in a spot where the dome cannot get a signal.

I use DirecTV with a non-HD dvr receiver that I mounted vertical next to the LCD TV. The dish is a single LNB unit, an old Winegard unit that folds flat with a round heavy plastic base. I have two hooks mounted near the top of the side compartment to hold the dish above other items. Being low to the ground, this dish is pretty immune to everything but the strongest winds, so I rarely need extra weight. In Texas, I'd rather park where there is shade and then sight the dish thru the trees as I am doing now.

I have a 3 LNB DirecTV antenna mounted on a tripod. We take our HD DVR and bedroom HD receiver with us from home. Since the setup is non-SWM we have baseband adapters furnished for free from DirecTV connecting the antenna feeds to the receivers. The DVR is connected through the RV's satellite connection. The bedroom receiver is connected via a flat cable through the window. Even with a signal in the 70s the picture is great. We had hellacious storms rumble through here during April and not once did we lose service. I bought the dish, tripod and cables off Ebay as a kit for about $135 plus shipping. Got very good support from the seller as well.

hhh, I just bought a Winegard carry out but haven't used it yet. Do you ever put it on top of your trailer to get a better signal? If you do do you do anything to help hold it in place besides adding water to the base?

Yes, I have put it on the roof. Mainly I did so it would not be easy for someone to "grab and go" when I spent 2 months in Quartzsite. I didn't secure it with anything and it never moved. Water in the base???? Never heard of that or can even see where you could put any water.

I guess we are talking about two different Winegard Carry Out Antennas. This is the one I have,http://Winegard MP1.
You put water or sand in the base to make it more solid. It's a very light unit otherwise.
