We survived our first rainy night with our new Crossroads. Camped in San Antonio and got 6 inches over night. I am convinced now that I want to get a cover for the slide out. Any idea, approximately, what the cost plus installation would be for one slide out on a 26 foot? I do know the depth is about 3ft and the slide covers the table and the love seat. Thanks.

Don't have an answer to your question, but we were in Austin this weekend and got the same rain in our ST32RL. It was only the 2nd time out so I was ecstatic when it was pouring outside and we were watching a movie inside but this morning I was sad to discover the mess on the slide outs. I'll be watch this thread to see what others say.

They range from $200 to $500 and there are two models, deluxe and elite. They range in size from 5' 6" to 18' and the installation cost is $60. I hope this helps.

I don't remember what they cost. We bought ours with the slide out cover. We had a 5er before without the covers. After that one we decided never again. So really------after spending all that money for the new unit, it's foolish to not finish the job so you and the rig are comfortable. They're not all that expensive.

I had three slide awnings on mine before I took delivery - installed by Camping World. I think it was about $1400.00 for the three installed.

I think they help with the rain and keep the top of the slide free of debris when the slides are out.

I had them on my last two fifth wheels too.

We got the slide covers when we got our new Cruiser. I like them because I don't have to get on top and sweep the slides off. When it rainis water will pool on the covers and if you retract the slide in the normal mannerthe water will cause it to roll up crooked.Retract the slide slowlygiving the water a chance to drain off.

A hint for you slide out covers from my experience. I had to replace all mine plus the awning as a result of the hot sun since new in 04 plus we then had one of those TX hailstorms which made for several holes. My suggestion is to sure to buy the model which has a metal cover when retracted! This gives protection when rolled up.
