I can't seem to get the road grim from our four-thousand-plus mile trip off the slide seal and wiper. Also, I have a distinct line which is in a line where the slide sits when at the "in" position. It doesn't help that the buld seal and wiper are white!
Anyways, I seem to remember a topic on this, I think from the old forum format. I can't find it now. I have tried simple green and regular car wash. No luck yet.
Any idea's on what will remove the road grime/film and the rubber left behind on the slide walls from the trip?

WD-40 should take it off. Then wash it down and put silicone on them.

I have had good success using both Mean Green and Greased Lightening to cleanroad grime and other residue off my trailer when the Simple Green was not strong enough to remove it.

I use Awesome to clean everything. I do not use it on the roof. You get it at the dollar store.I have been using it for 8 years now with no problem. It is great stuff. When I use to take the black streaks off I make sure to wax the 5er again.

Thanks for the tips!
I was getting ready to try those Mr. Clean pads! I will give your suggestions a try, I still have some resistant bug stains on the nose cap that aren't coming off. They baked in the Texas and Oklahoma heat on the way home.

Mike, Awesome will take the bugs right off just spray it on and with very little effort they come right off. Just make sure you wax the cap again.

Cool! I had quite the collection when I got home - I had souvenier's from Maine, New Hampshire, Mass., NY, Penn., Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico

With such a fine collection of bugs from that many states it's really ashame you are going to wipe them off. Ever think about using a sharpie and just labeling each one with the state initials?

Yeah, you could start a new trend...instead of the map with colored states that you've visited, you couldname the bug splats!

Hey all -
Just had 10 minutes to run outside and tryout your idea's. I used some Wal*Mart lubricating spray (i.e., cheap version of WD40) and that really seemed to make the rubber film, road grime and tar sl*g come right off.
I will finish up the rest of the seals and slide walls and complete the process with a good wash and 303.

I found out that "Magic Boss" product worked for me in a case like you described.
Can be found in RV shops.
