Slide skis

In preparing my 2010 Cruiser Patriot, I had my grandson put the lounge slide in as I was raising the rear stabilizers. I suddenly noticed a long piece of black plastic folding and bending up under the bottom of the slide. A little research shows this to be a "slide ski," which cracked, then failed.
My questions are, has anyone changed of these yourselves, is so, how?
Will operating the slide w/o replacing the ski. I AM going to either replace it myself or have it changed, but we want to head out this weekend, so I won't have the opportunity to repair it beforehand. Thanks

I would check to see if there are any screw heads hanging down that could catch and tear the carpet. I don't know if they could effect the bottom seal or not.

Thanks for your reply, Lloyd. I don't think there are any screws on the slide path, and I'm going to cover the exposed plywood flooring with gorilla tape and plastic sheeting over the weekend.

What do they use to hold that slide/plastic up there?

From what I can gather from YouTube, they're held in place with double-faced tape and staples. Looks like an easy fix, but other "easy fixes" I've tried cost even more to get re-fixed!!

Actually, the edge of the ski is held under the bottom slide molding also. The molding screws through the edge of the ski.

I did the same process as in the video posted by Mark. Only difference was I made my own skis out of a sheet of stainless steel. The only thing holding them on is the trim on the side of the slide outs and screws on both ends. No double stick tape or butyl tape used. That was two years ago. Works great.
