Smell!

Hi,
We have had our 27 ft Maple Country camper a year now and it still has a strong new camper smell. My wife seems to find it triggers her asthma.
What should be do to try and get rid of the smell?

Try to leave the windows and vents open as much as you can to let the air flow through. I think it's the formaldehyde that smells. It's used in manufacturing. Usually after the unit has been open for a year it starts to smell better.

You could also try baking soda on the carpeted areas. Sprinkle it on the carpeted areas and let it absorb the smell for a few days or a week if you can, then vacuum it up.

Place some containers around the rv with some apple cider vinegar in them.

Take any cushions out and mattress if possible and unzip the cushions to let them air.Take any shelving out to air also. They are made of monkey puke wood look alike stuff and they smell. Open all windows and get a few fans going...

We had some Max Air 2 vents installed so we are able to leave the roof vent open a little ways all of the time.

I have begun to sound like broken record on this topic but Zeolite rocks work wonders. I have used them to get rid of a mildew smell in a trailer, the new chemical smell in my fiver and most recently to get rid of gasoline fumes in my fiver. We had spilled gasoline in the basement of the fiver and it permeated the whole trailer. Zeolite closed up in the fiver took care of it. No more odor. These rocks are rechargeable by Sitting them out in sunlight for 6 hours. They are organic so they shouldn't cause any issues with your DW's asthma. I have yet to find an odor they haven't worked on.
